3DP Unlimited Print a Giant Sized Frankenstein’s Monster for Hallowe’en

28 October, 2014

In what must be my favourite publicity stunt of the year, the folks at 3DPlatform (previously 3DP Unlimited) have decided to 3D print a giant sized Frankenstein’s Monster. Appropriately enough, they’re even printing the big guy off piece by piece and assembling him together:

The printer being used is their own 3DP1000, a FFF (similar to FDM) machine specifically designed for working in extremely large scale while still maintaining relatively decent (70 microns) resolution.

While not immediately relevant to jewellery manufacturing, it’s fun to see the developers experimenting and pushing the limits of what the machines can do and how large they can be while still working commercially.

Happy Hallowe’en!
