Face By Holition – Next Generation Face Tracking Augmented Reality For Cosmetics
From the clever people (and old colleagues of mine) at Holition comes another wonderful innovation in augmented reality.
Introducing Face by Holition, an app which uses next generation face tracking technology to create an augmented reality cosmetics test counter. They are billing it as an augmented reality cosmetics app.
The technology behind this is as powerful as the interface is elegant. See for yourself (video after the cut):
It seems to me that while augmented reality innovations have been slow in coming in recent years, I’m sure we’ve only seen the beginning of what augmented reality has to offer.

Funnily enough, this app was actually shoved in my face just the other night at a party. Even under the dodgy light of a pub, the face tracking technology was rather impressive. I can only imagine how clean the motion detection would be in normal lighting.
…and yes, the app did make me look like I was wearing more makeup than Dame Edna Everage.
