For those who have been following this blog for a while, you’ll know I’ve been quite keen on following the changes happening with the way CAD and the jewellery design business interact. In particular, I’ve seen some interesting opportunities open up within e-lancing and the sharing economy, as well as the new ways CAD designers can bring their work to market.
A new product has been announced which, if it delivers what it promises, could well provide an entirely new way for to do business for all jewellers working in the supply chain. And all of it stems from CAD/CAM and the sharing economy. It’s an exciting prospect indeed.
Introducing Cadfolio, the professional jewellery network, as well as an e-lancing site, CAD model library, production manager, and online stock manager.
The platform is designed to connect companies and professionals all within a single network, allowing their products, pricing and inventory to interact automatically.
It aims to provide companies with innovative tools to streamline business activities, and at the same time, connect them to a network of potential new customers and suppliers.
“Creating a single platform where industry professionals can connect and conduct business, has been our vision for some time” explains Ryan Edkins, founder of Cadfolio. “Members will be able to price 1000’s of products from multiple suppliers, branded with their logo, and with their markup applied. Currently, many sales are lost due to suppliers being closed outside weekday trading hours, and we want to change that.”
The network incorporates a newsfeed for keeping up to date with current events, and also a comprehensive marketplace of products from industry leading suppliers and brands. Members will be also able to collaborate with suppliers online about repairs and orders, keeping a detailed history of communication between all parties.
“It is widely considered that CAD design and 3D printing is changing the way jewellery is manufactured, providing unparalleled customisation for the consumer. Cadfolio simplifies this modern manufacturing process, allowing CAD designers to display their portfolio’s online, and giving retailers a way to price them confidently.” says Ryan.
Cadfolio will celebrate its official launch at the International Jewellery London Exhibition, Olympia. The platform will open to pre-registered users in the UK this summer. You are invited to pre-register online to be the first to gain access before the official launch event.
